Manor Lords: How to Make Bread?
Learn how to make Bread in Manor Lords along with how to use it.
Bread is an essential food resource required for upgrading Burgage Plots and keeping your villagers content. The process of making bread can be complex, involving multiple steps and buildings. This guide will provide a detailed walkthrough on how to efficiently produce bread in the game.
How to Make Bread?
Step 1: Build a Farm and Farmhouse
The first step in bread production is to construct a field and a farmhouse. Players must choose a location with high soil fertility for either wheat or rye, as these crops are the primary ingredients for making bread. Use the overlay options on the right side of the screen to identify areas with high fertility, indicated by green shading.
Step 2: Plant and Harvest Wheat or Rye
On the field, select either wheat or rye as the crop to plant. Assign families to the farmhouse to facilitate the harvesting process. The more families assigned, the faster the crops will be harvested.
Rye is a good alternative to wheat because it is more resistant and can even be planted in soil with lower fertility. To unlock rye as a crop, purchase the Rye Cultivation development node.
Step 3: Set Threshing Priority to High
Access the farmhouse's Advanced tab and set the threshing priority to high. This ensures that the harvested crops are prioritized for conversion into grain rather than being stored as crops. If you plan on stocking up on crops, you can lower the threshing priority.

Step 4: Build a Windmill
Construct a windmill near the farm in an open, clear area to maximize efficiency. The windmill's purpose is to convert the grain obtained from the farmhouse into flour.
Step 5: Construct a Communal Oven or Bakery Extension
To transform the flour into bread, players need either a Communal Oven or a Bakery Extension on a Level 2 Burgage Plot.
Building | Requirements | Bread Production |
---|---|---|
Communal Oven | 2 Timber | Standard bread production |
Bakery Extension | Bakeries Development node, 5 Regional Wealth, 5 Planks | Produces twice as much bread per flour |
The Bakery Extension, unlocked through the Bakeries Development node, produces twice as much bread per flour compared to the Communal Oven.
Step 6: Distribute Bread
Once the bread is produced, it will be stored in the Granary. Assign workers to the Granary to facilitate the distribution of bread to the Marketplace's food stalls, ensuring a steady supply for your villagers.

Alternative: Trading for Bread
Instead of producing bread within your settlement, players can opt to trade for bread. This approach requires the following steps:
- Construct a Trading Post
- Exchange resources or Regional Wealth for bread
- Prices may fluctuate depending on supply and demand within the territory
Bread is a crucial food resource in Manor Lords, essential for upgrading Burgage Plots and maintaining a thriving population. By following the detailed steps outlined in this guide, players can establish an efficient bread production system, ensuring their villagers are well-fed and their settlement continues to prosper.
