Manor Lords: How to Obtain and Use Timber
Learn how to obtain and use timber in Manor Lords for constructing essential buildings.
Timber serves as a crucial resource for constructing and upgrading buildings to expand the settlement. Timber is the primary crafting material used in creating structures that are essential for mid-game and late-game progression. This guide will explain how to obtain timber and effectively use it in Manor Lords.
Obtaining Timber
Timber can be acquired by constructing a Logging Camp near trees. The Logging Camp is a production building that converts trees into timber. To begin collecting timber, assign at least one family to work at the Logging Camp. The assigned workers will chop down nearby trees and gather the timber for the settlement.
It is important to strategically place the Logging Camp in an area with an abundance of trees to ensure a steady supply of timber. The closer the Logging Camp is to the trees, the more efficiently the workers can gather timber.

Transforming Timber into Planks
Once timber has been collected, it can be further processed into planks using a Sawpit. Planks are required for constructing and upgrading more advanced buildings such as the Church and Manor. These structures play a vital role in the settlement's development and progression.
To produce planks, assign a worker to operate the Sawpit. The worker will transform the timber into planks, which are then stored in the Sawpit's storage. Planks can be used directly from the Sawpit's storage for construction purposes or transferred to a Storehouse for centralized storage.

Optimizing Plank Production and Storage
To streamline the production and storage of planks, consider the following tips:
- Build the Sawpit near the Logging Camp: Placing the Sawpit near the Logging Camp minimizes the distance timber needs to be transported, improving efficiency.
- Assign dedicated livestock to the Sawpit: By assigning livestock to the Sawpit through the Advanced Tab, the worker can independently transfer timber and planks without relying on unassigned workers. This ensures a constant supply of planks.
- Create a dedicated Storehouse for planks: Designate a Storehouse specifically for storing planks by adjusting its settings to only accept planks and reject other items. This helps keep the planks organized and easily accessible.

Managing Timber Transportation
Transporting timber from the Logging Camp to the Sawpit is a crucial aspect of plank production. There are two ways to manage timber transportation:
- Automatic transportation by unassigned workers: If a building requires planks but none are available, an unassigned worker will automatically transport timber from the Logging Camp or Storehouse to the Sawpit, wait for it to be processed, and then deliver the planks to the construction site.
- Assigning livestock to the Sawpit: By permanently assigning livestock to the Sawpit, the worker can independently transfer timber and planks without relying on unassigned workers. This method is more efficient but requires a dedicated livestock worker.
